France have received a major boost ahead of the World Cup final against Argentina with all 24 members of their squad taking part in training on Saturday, despite a recent outbreak of flu in the camp.
Five players - Raphael Varane, Ibrahima Konate, Kingsley Coman, Theo Hernandez and Aurelien Tchouameni - had been absent from France training on Friday, having all been impacted by a virus.
But they appear to be ready to go for the final now and that is especially good news for France when it comes to Varane, who has started all of their games at the World Cup with the exception of their opener against Australia in Group D.
Coach Didier Deschamps has alternated between Dayot Upamecano and Konate alongside Varane and given that Konate should now be available, he looks the most likely to start in the final after a superb showing against Morocco with two tackles, five interceptions and four clearances made in the game as Les Bleus kept a clean sheet.
For Argentina, it seems winger Angel Di Maria will also be available for the final, having recovered from a quadriceps injury.
Di Maria scored in the final of the Copa America in 2021 to hand Argentina the title and also got on the scoresheet in their Finalissima triumph over Italy.
